Massimo Mangiola, PhD

Dr. Mangiola holds a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Immunology from the University of Genoa (Italy), and is an Associate of the American College of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ACHI). Dr. Mangiola has trained at Tufts Medical Center (Boston, MA), and has directed or co-directed HLA laboratories in Boston, Providence, and Pittsburgh. Currently, Dr. Mangiola is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Immunogenetics Laboratory Director at the Transplant Institute of the NYU Langone Health in New York City. Dr. Mangiola is active in research and is actively investigating the role of molecular HLA mismatch in solid organ transplantation and the immunological barriers to porcine xenotransplantation.
